EOSCsecretariat.eu has published its second podcast in its series on the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), this time featuring Bert Meerman, Director of the GO FAIR Foundation which is one of the members of the EOSCSecretariat.eu consortium. Bert opens up about how he got involved in the FAIR data movement and why it is so important. He then goes on to speak about what is happening internationally in terms of Open Science and FAIR data, and what EOSC can learn from these other similar projects. Bert expresses the vital importance of avoiding regional Open Science silos by making sure that collaboration goes beyond European borders. Bert will also be speaking at the upcoming Data Together webinar on 24 November!

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) looks to accelerate the deployment and consolidation of an open, trusted, virtual, federated environment in Europe to store, share and re-use research data across borders and scientific disciplines and provide access to a rich array of related services. It will bring together institutional, national and European initiatives and relevant stakeholders in order to develop together a science commons where data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable (FAIR) and where research-enabling and other services are made available throughout Europe. EOSC will enhance the possibilities for researchers to find, share and reuse publications, data, and software in Europe, facilitating new insights and innovations, higher research productivity, and improved reproducibility in science.
